Abstract :

Ultraviolet rays constitute a very low fraction in the solar spectrum but influence all living organisms and their metabolisms and these radiations can cause a range of effects from simple tanning to highly malignant skin cancers, if unprotected. This paper summarizes the interaction between ultraviolet radiation and textile surfaces and reviews the recent researches focused on the subject. The relation between ultraviolet light and structural and physical properties of textile materials have also been highlighted.
