Abstract :

Reuse of a waste material in ceramic production plays a most important role on ecology and is also economical, in which the waste materials significantly reduces the use of natural resources. In this contest, an attempt is made to replace the conventional ceramic material quartz by Bamboo Leaf Ash (BLA). The fabricated insulator was characterized by its physcio-mechanical properties (porosity, shrinkage, water absorption, bulk density and strength). Mineralogical, microstructural and dielectric characteristics of the sintered specimen were examined by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) and dielectric measurement respectively. The viability study shows that 10% BLA substitution, in the place of quartz is physically satisfactory and the BLA particle does not produce any harmful phases or any causes that suggest the BLA particles effectively react with other ceramic ingredients such as clay and feldspar to form a good ceramic product.
